After an eventful month of crazy phone revelations at MWC 2019, it’s time we take our eyes to the next bunch of phones to be unveiled. Quite obvious and perhaps one of the most hyped is the OnePlus 7. Unlike before, OnePlus was also one of the participants at the MWC this year but that was a different ball game for the company. That was about a secret 5G prototype. This is about company’s upcoming flagship. With first leaks now pouring over the internet, let’s have a look at how the upcoming flagship from the Chinese start up is shaping up.
First image renders reveals a pop-up selfie camera
Contrary to previous renders which suggested a sliding mechanism, latest leaks from Onleaks and Pricebaba hints a pop-up selfie camera. This idea was first introduced with Vivo’s Nex last year. The pop-up selfie camera is not in the centre.
Another notable difference is the display. Now that, OnePlus is expected to get rid of the notch, the OnePlus 7 will probably boast an impressive screen-to-body ratio (about 95 percent). We are not yet sure about the resolution but i see no reason for OnePlus to go for a higher resolution display. Its current 1080p Full HD display is still considered one of the best in the industry.
Notchless display at the front and no fingerprint scanner at the back also means that OnePlus will stick with the in-display fingerprint scanner. Again, not sure if OnePlus will retain the optical fingerprint scanner or upgrade to the ultrasonic scanner seen in the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S10 lineup.
In terms of dimensions, OnePlus 7 is expected to be 9.7 mm thick at its thickest point (camera bump) and 8.8 mm at the thinnest point. The display now without a notch will measure at 6.5-inches diagonally.
Apart from the physical specs, the OnePlus 7 will come with the latest and greatest Snapdragon 855 SoC. We are not expecting the RAM limit but don’t be surprised if we see a 10GB RAM variant also. Based on the time of its release, the device will come with Android Pie out of the box. There has been no words about the battery capacity although a healthy upgrade is always welcomed.
What do you think? A pop-up selfie camera to do away with the notch?
If you ask me, I am not personally a fan of moving parts like a pop-up selfie camera on a smartphone. I would rather take the sliding mechanism like the one on the Mi Mix 3.
What do you guys think? Would you buy the OnePlus 7 if it comes with a pop-up selfie camera?
