You have just got your OnePlus 6T. Congratulations! But did you know that you can claim the free 1 year Accidental and Liquid Damage protection on your device? Yes, Kotak is giving away free 1 year accidental and liquid damage insurance with OnePlus 6T.
Now I know a lot of people are already aware of the offer. But, most of them end up not activating the offer due to the tedious steps involved. To be honest, it does take a bit of time but it is way simpler than it looks like. So, here is how you can activate the offer –
Buy OnePlus 6T Here
Step 1: Before you start, make sure you have read all the terms and conditions mentioned on Amazon.in for the Kotak 811 offer.
Step 2: Go to this link (from your OnePlus 6T) and sign up for a Kotak 811 bank account. Don’t worry its extremely simple.
Step 3: Enter all your credentials including your PAN card information just as you would do to open any conventional bank account.
Step 4: Upon successful registration, you will receive an SMS from Kotak with your CRN number and other details. Once you are done with opening the account, you will now need to transfer a minimum amount to your new Kotak 811 account.
Although there is an option to get your offline KYC done which will remove any sort of transactional restrictions. However, since it’s not mandatory, you can leave it as it is.
Step 5: Transfer a minimum of Rs 5,000 into your new Kotak 811 account through your Debit/Credit card or Net Banking. This is a Zero Balance account so you can transfer this money back to your main account after the protection plan gets activated.
Step 6: According to the steps mentioned in Amazon India, the plan should get activated on the OnePlus Care app. So you would need to download and register on the OnePlus Care app with the same credentials as your Kotak 811 account.
Now comes the tough part. After successfully opening the Kotak 811 account and depositing Rs 5,000, I didn’t receive any confirmation from Servify or OnePlus or Kotak 811 about my complimentary Accidental and Liquid damage protection plan.
When I reached out to the Servify team, they asked me to wait for 72 working hours after which I should receive an SMS with the activation link. Fast forward one week and there was no update and I didn’t get a promising response from the servify team as well. So I decided to take the matter on Social Media (Twitter). Interestingly, just hours after posting the tweet about the same, I got a call from a Servify representative and the plan was eventually activated on my OnePlus Care app.
Inside the OnePlus Care app, you just need to put in the device purchase date and you should be good to go. And yes, make sure you complete the process within 15 days of purchasing your OnePlus 6T. Furthermore, it is not mentioned anywhere on the Amazon website but you will have to pay Rs 750 mandotary fee whenever you avail any kind of service under this protection plan.
Although the process looks pretty simple in the first instance, you would need to show a bit of urgency to the Servify team as they tend to delay the process for no reason.
